What is the SCEDC?

Our entire county values the INDEPENDENCE that having a business in America provides. By working TOGETHER, Seward County Economic Development Corporation can boost business success by offering expertise, providing connections and enhancing awareness.

ABOUT SCEDC

Seward County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) was formed in 2011 to create and expand economic opportunities throughout Seward County, Nebraska. As a membership, we work to facilitate the planning, development and implementation of tax base expansion, economic stability, job creation and job retention.

Our goal is to work with businesses and entrepreneurs like you to create a thriving environment for businesses.

SCEDC serves as a dot-connector for new and existing businesses, providing resources to find funding opportunities, local/state incentives, site analysis, and business planning.

SCEDC markets and recruits for the entire Seward County region, helping to advocate for new businesses choosing the area. By collaborating with other community groups, SCEDC strives to provide an inviting community for future workforces including housing, education, and overall quality of life.

SCEDC offers our members a deep understanding of and access to information about target industries, including: advanced manufacturing, transportation and logistics, agriculture, and education.

SCEDC is a member of the Lincoln Area Development Partnership, a 10-county marketing group. Through this affiliation, SCEDC is positioned to advocate on behalf of Seward County businesses.

Our unique board is made up of representatives from public institutions and private businesses, enabling us to serve our members in the most comprehensive manner.

A Commuting Patterns study was completed to show that large employers in the City of Seward are able to attract workers from a large geographic area (20 counties) with a population base of more than one-million people. Population in those 20 counties is 1.35 million. Most workers live within 30 miles of the City of Seward or within roughly 45 minutes travel time. However, a small number of workers travel much further than 30 miles to work in the City of Seward. Read the full study.
